Between Light & Leaf: AHA Autumn Art Exhibition

The three-day exhibition was a resounding success, thanks to the leadership of AHA Executive and the tireless efforts of our volunteers. Visitors left glowing praise for the fall show, which also translated into a healthy number of sales. A tender surprise came in the form of a newly-joined member of the AHA, whose first steps into our community bore fruit with three pieces finding new homes.

How deeply we treasure each person who came—to linger in the world of art, to honor the passionate devotion of the artists, to let the light of creativity dance among us. It was a moment to reconnect, to discover new visions, to stand among kindred spirits in an atmosphere tinged with inspiration and uplift.

We were honoured to host the visit of Hudson’s Mayor, Chloé Hutchison, whose architectural eye sees the world in lines of light and shadow, in shapes of gesture, in rhythm and grace. She reminds us that architecture and the visual arts—painting, sculpture, installation—are siblings in the same mystery. They draw from line, form, texture, scale, rhythm and pattern: “Architecture and art have a blurred but meaningful relationship … they both communicate a mixture of thoughts and emphasize form, beauty, and visual appeal.”ppeal.”

The vernissage on Friday 17 October

At the opening of the exhibition, Mireille Youssef, President of AHA, offered a few welcoming remarks. Live art was featured when Xénia Halmov painted on pebbles alongside Nicole Dorion, enchanting onlookers. Among the guests were Mayor Chloé Hutchison, her partner Paul, and their friends; also in attendance were my friend Liz with Sinclair Maloney, and my sister Lise.

Gina Haladuik, Hatchig Ibisoglu, and Mireille Youssef (joined by Hatchig), along with Michelle Lantaigne, Jeannette Plamondon, Johanne Riendeau (with Hatchig), Pauline Vohl, Renée Mollitt, Chantal Koot, and Sinclair Maloney—all graced the event with their presence. Greeting guests warmly at the entrance was the ever-cheerful Raffles Desk. Many returning visitors expressed how impressed they were with the show. At the finale, Mireille delivered heartfelt thanks to everyone.
