Hera, Erotism, Bliss & Union

Hera, the goddess of marriage, is the archetype of the sacred nature of marriage as a woman's fulfillment and the need to be recognized as a partner, as a wife, a union of the masculine and the feminine, an experience of wholeness. In the dream of wholeness evoking a whole range of emotions, erotic feelings, bliss and union, I can relate to this experience feeling that I was living a mystical union. I experienced an early romance eager to play house leading to my dream of a mystical union until the ending of this relationship. As a result, I ended up with the first deep emotional wound as a young Hera woman. In retrospect, it was painful but it was an incredible learning experience for which I'm grateful. ''Many women can look back to previous relationships and realize that they were too willing to get married.'' (Goddesses in Everywoman, Jean Shinoda Bolen, MD)
