Informal Conversation with Mayor Chloe Hutchison and Councillor Bob Johnson

As a relatively new Hudson resident and a member of its senior community, I was pleased to hear so many thoughtful, practical suggestions. Some could be put into action fairly quickly, while others would require longer-term planning. Mayor Hutchison invited us to gather in small groups to share our ideas and recommendations.

Among the suggestions was moving yoga classes upstairs to make them more accessible, while leaving the basement space for younger participants. Others proposed talks on a variety of subjects, including social media and technology, to help residents stay informed and feel more connected in a rapidly changing world. Paula, from the Manoir, also emphasized the importance of giving residents access to a computer, along with support to learn how to use it.

One longer-term proposal was to transform the former railway corridor between Hudson and Rigaud into a safe walking trail. Such a path would provide a wonderful opportunity for residents to enjoy nature, stay active, and nurture their well-being.

This was my first time taking part in a community consultation, and I left feeling encouraged. I appreciated the Mayor’s willingness to listen and the opportunity for older residents to help shape the community we call home. Our voices, experiences, and ideas have much to contribute to Hudson’s future.
