The Art of Life: “At Seventy - Inner Journeys and Transformations”

As I prepare to embark on my 70th year, I find myself in deep introspection—not only reflecting on my own life, but on the love and support of family and friends who have shaped every step. I remain an existentialist at heart, driven by the hope of evolving—as an artist, as a woman, and as a human being nourished by dreams, aspirations, and the comforting presence of those I hold dear.

Julia Cameron reminds us that creativity is “a spiritual issue,” and that progress often requires “leaps of faith”. In my experience, these leaps always feel safer when taken hand‑in‑hand with loved ones. Whether I’m exploring a new painting or sharing a poem, the connection between art and love becomes ever more tangible when witnessed by those who know me best.

Jean Houston wrote that creativity is “the act of continually recreating ourselves.” In this light, family and friends are our mirrors and catalysts—they cherish our past selves, challenge us in the present, and stand by us in our reinvention. Their encouragement turns my solitary creative moments into shared adventures.

I’ve come to see that true transformation sometimes means courageously embracing our flaws and the unknown—and that process is softer when we’re surrounded by affection. As Julia Cameron beautifully notes, “The reward for attention is always healing… attention is an act of connection”. In those moments—late-night chats, shared laughter, or gentle reassurances—we release the weight of the past and move forward together, arms open

.

This journey may be uncertain, but it is infinitely richer—and more beautiful—when experienced in community. Life’s possibilities stretch farther when nourished by the love of our family and the friendships that sustain our souls.

I feel deeply grateful for a life enriched by lasting friendships that span from Montreal to New York, London, France, Italy, Greece, Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt. Above all, what matters most to me is the joy of cherishing those I love — family and friends who have given meaning and warmth to my journey.
