There is a welcoming new gathering place in the heart of Hudson: Bistro sur la Main. Open seven days a week, the Bistro serves breakfast from Monday to Saturday, lunch during the week, and dinner from Monday through Saturday. Ideally situated on Main Road, it has quickly become a favorite meeting place for locals and visitors alike.
Residents from Manoir Cavagnal often gather there for lunch, enjoying not only the cuisine but also the warm sense of familiarity that defines the Bistro’s atmosphere. Kim Dupigny, who oversees the floor and bar service, greets patrons with genuine warmth and remembers many of their favorite orders by heart. Book clubs meet there regularly, and members of the Hudson Theatre community are also among its loyal clientele.
What truly distinguishes Bistro sur la Main is its inviting spirit. Alongside the food and drinks, there is an unmistakable feeling of comfort and connection that immediately welcomes guests through the door. Kim, who has worked at the Bistro for the past four months, contributes greatly to this ambiance with her kindness, vibrant personality, and carefully chosen soundtrack of music from the 1960s, 70s, and 80s.
She speaks highly of owner and chef Christian Taylor, whose long experience in hospitality helped transform the space through an impressive restoration. Once in need of extensive repairs, the Bistro has been thoughtfully revived into a warm and lively destination. Its spacious terrace can accommodate up to fifty guests and has already become a popular gathering spot, especially during happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. and throughout the Canadiens playoff season.
Kim herself comes from a family deeply rooted in the culinary and catering world. Her mother owned a bakery on the Caribbean island of Dominica, nestled between Martinique and Guadeloupe. During difficult times, Kim was adopted by her grandparents, who later emigrated to Canada, where she has lived ever since. Raised in Dollard-des-Ormeaux in Montreal’s West Island, she brings both warmth and resilience to her work — qualities that perfectly reflect the welcoming spirit of Bistro sur la Main.
