Briana Doyle: The Voice Behind Hudson’s Hospitality and Music Scene

When I met with Briana Doyle, I was immediately struck by her energy — the kind of bright, purposeful enthusiasm that inspires a newcomer like me to feel even more at home in Hudson. As President of the Hudson Hospitality Association, a non-profit organization, Briana channels this passion into a clear mission: to support local businesses and to promote Hudson as the special destination she knows it to be.

Her vision is simple yet powerful — encouraging collaboration rather than competition among business owners. In a small town with a limited population, working together is essential. From a marketing standpoint, Hudson must reach outward, drawing visitors from surrounding communities who will support local shops, cafés, restaurants, and services. This cooperative spirit creates the win-win dynamic Briana hopes to cultivate.

Briana brings invaluable expertise to this role. With a background in marketing, communications, and journalism, she offers the precise skill set the Association needs. Together with a team of HHA volunteers, one of her early accomplishments was the creation of a new website, launched on November 15. The site highlights member businesses and showcases Hudson’s many attractions: scenic nature trails, charming places to eat and shop, vibrant bars, and a main street perfect for leisurely strolling. Her outreach efforts focus on promoting these assets to a broader audience and building the Association’s membership base. The website also includes information about how to join the Hudson Hospitality Association.

Hudson itself is a town where the arts flourish. Local groups — including an art club, a theatre company, and various studios — contribute to a vibrant creative culture. Annual festivals enliven the seasons: the summer street fair, Canada Day celebrations, the winter ShiverFest carnival, the “Turn on the Lights” Festival, and many more.

Live music is equally thriving here. From lively Friday-night bar sets to intimate performances in historic venues, Hudson offers something for every music lover. For Briana, this environment reignited her own passion for music. She is not only a songwriter but also a performer, regularly appearing at Microbrasserie Cardinal alongside other local artists. For emerging musicians, this venue is a meaningful stepping stone — a warm, supportive stage where talent can grow. Cardinal is also unique in Hudson for having no television, creating a rare space where people truly connect through conversation and music.

As co-owner of Microbrasserie Cardinal, Briana describes it as a gathering place where community naturally forms. The brewery hosts live music every Friday and Saturday year-round, while Thursdays offer acoustic jams and open-mic nights — perfect whether you want to play (bring your guitar!) or simply enjoy a pint while listening. On the first Sunday of each month, the brewery features an “all-originals” open mic for songwriters, showcasing fresh local talent. And for those who prefer a more contemplative experience, jazz nights on the first and third Sundays offer beautifully curated listening sessions.

With Briana’s vision, the invaluable support of dedicated HHA volunteers, and the leadership of newly re-elected Mayor Chloe Hutchison, Hudson is poised to shine as a destination where art and nature blend seamlessly — a combination essential to the success of the Hudson Hospitality Association. With its tranquil landscapes, rich cultural life, and predominantly older demographic, Hudson appeals to those seeking a peaceful, village-like lifestyle, all while remaining within easy reach of the Montréal metropolitan area.
