As my visit to New York drew to a close and the summer heat intensified, I found solace in the familiar rhythm of cooking. In the final two days, I prepared my signature pasta dishes—culinary creations that have delighted friends over the years during my time in Manhattan.
Nathalie, my gracious host, welcomed me into her beautiful Manhattan apartment, a place that had often been my refuge during the United Nations General Assembly sessions from September to December. On Monday, I prepared a zucchini pasta dish, a recipe I had the pleasure of learning during a trip to Capri with my cousin, Sylvie. There, we met a kind young man named Luigi, who invited us into his home. He picked fresh zucchini from his garden and, as he cooked, shared the secrets of this delightful dish. Since then, it has become a favorite of my sister, Astrid, often praising its flavors.

Tuesday was a bustling day in the kitchen. I prepared two pasta dishes: a hearty bolognese and a classic tomato sauce. To start, we enjoyed an Italian appetizer of prosciutto and melon—a timeless combination that balances savory and sweet. As this was my last evening in Manhattan, I ensured there were ample leftovers for Nathalie, who has always appreciated my cooking.

Sharing these meals with Nathalie and her charming furry companion, Willow, whose personality adds warmth to any gathering, was a joy. Anthony joined us for dinner, making it a memorable final supper before my departure on Wednesday. This trip has been a tapestry of cherished moments, woven together with the threads of friendship and love.
As George Sand once said, "There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved."
