Manoir Cavagnal Hosts Municipal Election Discussion

In anticipation of the upcoming municipal elections, Manoir Cavagnal recently welcomed local candidates for an informal community discussion. The gathering offered residents an opportunity to voice their concerns, ask questions, and hear directly from those seeking to shape the future of Hudson.

Paula Mesa, Director of Manoir Cavagnal, opened the event by greeting the candidates and inviting them to share their vision for the town.

The first to speak was mayoral candidate Chantal Perreault, who presented her platform with warmth and sincerity. Her campaign emphasizes a Hudson defined by quality, beauty, and sound governance—a forward-looking vision centered on community well-being. Perreault brings extensive experience as a lawyer specializing in civil and commercial liability, business law, and ethics. Over the years, she has also volunteered with various charitable organizations. A mother of two and an artist herself, she has previously been involved with the Hudson Artists Association.

Current Mayor Chloé Hutchison also addressed the residents. Trained as an architect, she has worked in several Montreal firms and holds expertise in heritage conservation, sustainable design, landscape integration, and responsible urban planning. Since her election in 2021, she has focused her mandate on rebuilding public trust, fostering transparency, strengthening public consultation, addressing aging infrastructure, and carefully balancing development with environmental protection. A significant ongoing file is the possible municipal acquisition of Sandy Beach, a key natural waterfront asset. Hutchison expressed personal support while underscoring that the ultimate decision must reflect community consent.

The discussion then turned to the candidates for Councillor of District 2 (Hudson East).Matthew Stenberg highlighted his priorities of community connection, improving pedestrian corridors such as Mount Pleasant and St-Thomas, protecting Hudson’s natural heritage, and ensuring a town where residents of all generations can thrive.

Also running in District 2, Luc Dionne brings over four decades of experience as an actuary specializing in pension plans. Since retiring in 2023, he has devoted his time to community involvement. His platform is grounded in preserving Hudson’s distinct identity, reinforcing transparency, and ensuring sound financial management. Dionne emphasized the importance of making carefully considered decisions today that will shape Hudson’s long-term future.
