The Last Golden Days by the Sea

As our time in this tropical haven draws to a close, we find ourselves gathering memories that will remain with us for the rest of our lives. The sea has been our constant companion, its rhythm soothing and timeless, while the people we have met along the way have added warmth and richness to this journey. Here, we were given the rare gift of simply being—happy, present, and at peace within ourselves.

We also had the pleasure of visiting our friends Marvin and Pascal at their new seaside home, a place filled with promise and possibility. Surrounded by their four loyal dogs, they have embraced this new chapter with enthusiasm, envisioning the transformation of the house into a welcoming retreat, with two future apartments to be offered to travelers once the renovations are complete. We first met them, as always, at the familiar beach bar that has been a gathering place since our arrival—a place of shared stories and easy companionship. From there, they stepped forward into their new adventure, guided by courage and hope. We wish them every success as they bring their dream to life by the sea.

On one golden afternoon, we joined our condo neighbours—Loraine, Tony, Chad, and Jenny—at Cabarete Beach, drawn by its vibrant spirit. The shoreline pulsed with life, laughter, and the unmistakable presence of many Quebecers who, like us, had come seeking refuge from winter’s icy grip. It was there, in a spontaneous and meaningful gesture, that Sylvain chose to have a temporary tattoo inked with the initials of his three beloved children—Mitchel, Shannon, and Brandon—a quiet tribute to the enduring bond he carries with him wherever he goes.

Though we are about to leave, a part of us will always remain here, carried in the salt air, the gentle tides, and the friendships that have touched our hearts.
