Waves, Love, and Time Together

Being by the sea touches something very deep within me. It brings a quiet calm that softens my thoughts and opens my heart to reflection. The ocean feels like a return to where everything begins. As the waves roll in, they seem to whisper directly to my soul, carrying a healing presence that gently soothes and restores me.

Our time in the Dominican Republic is filled with joy found in the simplest moments. Waking up each morning to the sound of the ocean feels like a gift I never take for granted. The waves create a constant, comforting rhythm, as if nature itself is watching over us. Cooking here brings me real happiness. The ingredients are so fresh, so alive, and their scents remind me of how food is meant to nourish not only the body, but the spirit. Shopping at the Playero market in Sosúa has become part of our daily rhythm, and finding the Irish butter I used to buy in New York made me smile—it felt like a small piece of home meeting this beautiful place. Being here has rekindled my love of cooking, and sharing these meals with Sylvain and Brandon fills me with quiet joy.

Having Brandon join us for ten days has been especially meaningful. His presence adds a lightness and warmth that makes our days feel even richer. Watching him surf and play golf, so at ease and confident, is a pleasure in itself. This time together has allowed me to know him more deeply, and it has been moving to witness the pride in Sylvain’s eyes as he watches his son. Seeing them together touches my heart, because I know how deeply Sylvain loves all three of his children. That love is unmistakable, and being surrounded by it makes this time by the sea feel even more precious.
